How to perform an Enema with Colaus®
Share
Enemas are designed to be quick & easy. This enema bag is used to cause a quick & painless evacuation from the colon, so having a toilet nearby is essential.
- Choose your solution of choice (the liquid you are going to prepare that will go into the enema bag & flush your colon.)
- This can look like, pre boiled water, a coffee enema solution, saline solution, ACV solution, Vitamin C solution, etc.
- Prepare 2L as needed & once prepared, move onto step 2. Make sure all solutions are room temperature prior to pouring into your enema bag.
- Hang your enema bag somewhere in the bathroom (A towel rack, on a shower frame etc.)
- Please make sure your enema bag is above your standing head height for the best gravity flow.
- Once you have hung your bag, now it’s time to close the clamp on the tubing. Close the clamp completely. This is essential for when you pour you solution of choice into the bag, it doesn’t run out all over the floor!
- Once the clamp is closed, now you can pour your pre-prepared solution into the enema bag.
- Allow the bag to sit for a few minutes so the air bubbles can make their way out of the tube. If you see some gaps of air in the tubing, with the clamp still closed, you can squeeze the tubing, forcing any air to travel back up into the bag where it will dissipate.
- Now its time to get comfy! Lay a towel down on the floor, get a pillow & lay down with the enema bag in close reach.
- Lubricate the enema tip of your choosing, coconut oil is great, but any lubricant will work fine.
- Laying comfortably either on your side, or on your back, insert the enema tip into your rectum, roughly 5cm.
- Once you are comfortable, slowly release the clamp to start the flow of the enema solution.
- PRO TIP: Go slow. The slower the flow, the longer you will manage to retain. If you do experience some cramping, close off the clamp, take some deep breaths, and start to slowly open the clamp again.
- Once you have taken in as much of the enema solution as you can hold, close the clamp, gently remove the enema tip & continue to lay on the floor.
- Holding the solution up to 15 minutes is ideal, however, don’t feel discouraged if you can’t hold for 15 minutes, this can take a while to work up to!
- Once you feel cramping, or the urge to expel the solution, move over to the toilet where you will gently expel the solution.
- Remember to RELAX. Sometimes your body will retain some of the solution. If this happens, don’t be alarmed, this is normal & sometimes can indicate dehydration. Follow up with another enema if required. Drink plenty of water over the next few hours to continue hydrating.

Congratulations! You have successfully completed your enema!
